Smoke and Gas Fill Plane’s Cockpit, Forcing Emergency Landing

A British Airways flight was compelled to make an emergency landing due to smoke and gas filling the cockpit.

According to a report from The Sun on Friday (September 27, 2024), passengers aboard flight BA1306 were left startled by the situation. The flight, which was originally scheduled to travel from London Heathrow Airport to Aberdeen Airport in Scotland, had to divert to Manchester Airport early on Friday morning.

The flight had taken off from London at 8:45 a.m., with an expected arrival at its destination around 10:15 a.m.

Fire crews were promptly called to the runway following the technical issue.

Flight BA1306 operated by British Airways was rerouted to Manchester after an emergency was declared due to smoke and gas in the cockpit.

A spokesperson for Manchester Airport mentioned that although the issue was not critical, it was still treated as an emergency.

British Airways has yet to provide a comment despite being contacted regarding the situation.
