There was a bit of a commotion when a passenger decided to stretch out, not in their seat, but in the overhead bin of the plane.
This Southwest Airlines passenger turned heads by lounging in the overhead compartment, leaving everyone scratching their heads.
As reported by the New York Post on Saturday (May 11, 2024), the video went viral on TikTok under the username @gmonique_132, racking up over 5.1 million views. The caption “Southwest is wildin” accompanied the now-unavailable video.
In the clip, an unnamed woman can be seen chilling out in the storage area, while other passengers can’t help but laugh.
But here’s the kicker: it’s unclear if she was a passenger or part of the crew, as no one seemed to give her a talking-to.
Naturally, this bizarre video had people on the internet asking all sorts of questions.
“How’d she even get up there?” wondered one user.
“When someone’s in my seat, but I don’t feel like arguing,” chimed in someone else.
“Hey, Southwest lets you pick your own seat,” another user pointed out, referring to the airline’s first-come-first-served seating policy.
While it’s pretty out there, this isn’t the first time someone’s been caught napping in the overhead bin. Last summer, there was another person spotted catching some Zs in one on a Ryanair flight from Ibiza, Spain.
And remember that flight attendant from Southwest Airlines in 2019? She locked herself in the cabin at Nashville International Airport, giving everyone the heebie-jeebies.
