According to the New York Post on Wednesday (28/8), this epic meltdown went down on August 23rd. The unnamed American tourist was supposed to be on a LATAM flight from Bogota to Cartagena, but there was just one tiny problem—he missed the boarding time.
When he got to the gate, the door to the plane was already closed. Now, most of us would take that as a sign that it’s time to chill out and maybe grab a coffee. Not this guy. Instead, he decided that the best course of action was to break through the security barriers and try to force his way onto the plane.
Daniel Gallo, a member of Colombia’s Air Transport Workers Union, said, “When he couldn’t get on the plane, he chose to break aviation security.” Not the best choice, my dude.
In a three-minute Instagram video shot by a fellow passenger, the man can be seen throwing a full-on temper tantrum. We’re talking kicking the plane door, crying, and basically behaving like a kid who just had his favorite toy taken away.
At one point, he even got down on his knees and started banging on the window, begging the staff to let him on the plane. It was like a scene straight out of a movie—except, you know, less heroic and more embarrassing.
He didn’t stop there. Oh no, he tried fiddling with the joystick on the boarding bridge in a last-ditch effort to board the plane. Spoiler alert: it didn’t work.
Security eventually showed up, along with the police, and the tourist was escorted to the airport’s immigration office. But this guy was not going down without a fight—he reportedly assaulted an officer before they could finally get him under control.
The end result? He was deported from Colombia within a few hours. So, next time you’re running late for a flight, remember this guy’s story and maybe just take a deep breath instead.
