Passengers on IndiGo flight 6E2702 had quite the nail-biting experience. They found themselves landing in the middle of some rough weather, with the fuel gauge flirting dangerously close to empty.
According to news18, on Monday (April 15, 2024), this IndiGo flight took off from Ayodhya headed for Delhi. But things got dicey when it couldn’t land at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) due to bad weather, not once, but twice!
One passenger, Satish Kumar, spilled the beans on X. He said it was one heck of a scary ride.
“So, yesterday’s flight with @IndiGo6E Flight No. 6E2702 from Ayodhya to Delhi was something else. We were supposed to take off at 3:25 PM and land at 4:30 PM. But around 4:15 PM, the pilot came on the intercom saying Delhi Airport’s weather was rough. He assured us we had enough fuel to fly for another 45 minutes. But after two failed landing attempts due to the bad weather, we were all wondering what was next,” Satish shared.
After the failed landings in Delhi, the pilot announced they were heading to Chandigarh Airport. They finally touched down in Chandigarh at 6:25 PM, a whopping 115 minutes after the pilot mentioned the ’45-minute fuel reserve’.
“At that point, some passengers and even one of the cabin crew started feeling queasy from all the nerves. But hey, we made it! Landed in Chandigarh at 6:10 PM, just in the nick of time, with only 1 or 2 minutes of fuel left, according to the crew. Phew! What a rollercoaster! @DGCA @MoCA_GoI, we gotta ask, were all the rulebooks followed, or was this just the universe’s way of keeping us on our toes?” he added.
Meanwhile, on the same day, 22 flights had to take a detour from Delhi’s IGI Airport between 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM due to the lousy weather. Heavy rains in Delhi really threw a wrench in the works!
Out of those 22 flights meant for Delhi, nine ended up in Jaipur, eight in Lucknow, two in Chandigarh, and one each in Amritsar, Ahmedabad, and Varanasi.
