This Singaporean tourist takes the cake for bad behavior. Not only did he overstay his visa, but he also managed to rob a Malaysian royal museum. Way to make a vacation memorable!
According to Mothership on Saturday (August 2, 2024), Kobes Samueh Poh San, 32, admitted to a series of offenses that ultimately got him fined and deported. He racked up five charges, making him Malaysia’s least favorite visitor.
Poh San smashed the glass case containing personal items of Johor royalty at the Johor Royal Abu Bakar Museum. His lawyer from Vinsa & Ian defended him, but the charges were pretty damning: breaking and entering, and vandalizing royal artifacts.
For breaking into the museum, he was slapped with fines of RM4,500 and RM10,000. Nice going, Poh San!
Then, as if that wasn’t enough, he shattered a mirror at Hotel Z where he was staying. That little tantrum cost him another RM3,000.
On top of his museum shenanigans, Poh San, who also holds a Dutch passport, overstayed his welcome by a whopping 183 days. That blunder cost him RM10,000 under the Immigration Act. Guess he thought Malaysia was so nice, he’d stay illegally!
Adding to his list of misdeeds, he admitted to using methamphetamine and amphetamine at a police narcotics department in Johor Bahru. For this, he was fined RM2,500 under the Drug Act. Clearly, this guy was on a roll.
His lawyer informed the court that Permai Hospital confirmed Poh San has mental health issues but is fit to plead. At least that explains some of his erratic behavior.
After paying the hefty fines, Poh San was deported. Let’s hope his next travel destination involves a little less drama and a lot more respect for the law.
