Hey there, ever wondered which airlines Indonesians prefer? Well, wonder no more! Jakpat, this cool survey app in Indonesia, did a survey back on November 21, 2022, with 396 folks from Indonesia.
They went all digital, using the Jakpat app and throwing out questions left and right. And guess what? Garuda Indonesia snagged the top spot. Check out the full list below.
The Most Loved Airlines According to Indonesians
So, according to Jakpat, here’s the lineup of Indonesia’s favorite local airlines:
Garuda Indonesia
Word on the street is Garuda Indonesia rocks around 600 flights a day. They’re all about giving you the best, with their “Garuda Indonesia Experience” vibe, focusing on that sweet “Indonesian Hospitality” we all know and love.
It’s no surprise they’re the top dog, right? They’ve got the awards to prove it, too.
In 2023, these guys snagged the title of “The World’s Best Airline Cabin Crew 2023” by Skytrax, a fancy airline rating gang from London.
And in the same year, they hit number 33 in the “100 Largest Companies in Indonesia” list, according to Fortune Indonesia.
Garuda Indonesia’s been crushing it in 2022. It’s their best year yet, and that’s saying something.
Citilink
Citilink Indonesia is like Garuda’s little sibling. They’ve been chugging along since 2024, serving up over 86 routes to 50 spots, both local and international (East Timor, Malaysia, Singapore, and Australia).
These guys are no slouch when it comes to awards either.
They scooped up the Human Capital on Resilience Excellence Award 2023 for Best Innovative HR. Plus, they snagged the Best Low-Cost Airline in Indonesia title at the Skytrax World Airline Awards 2022.
Lion Air
Lion Air’s another fave among Indonesians. They’ve been flying since 2000.
They’re known for being easy on the wallet and they’ve been expanding internationally since 2018. They’ll take you to Singapore, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, and even China.
Batik Air
Batik Air Indonesia’s like Lion Air’s cool cousin. Also part of the Lion Air Group Indonesia crew.
Air Asia
Air Asia Indonesia’s all about that budget travel life. They’ve been doing their thing since 1999, flying out of Soekarno Hatta International Airport (CGK).
Sriwijaya Air
Sriwijaya Air’s been in the game since 2003. They’re all about shuttling folks and goods around, serving up over 950,000 passengers a month to 53 spots in Indonesia and a few other nearby countries.
Super Jet Air
Super Jet Air’s the new kid on the block, kicking off in 2021 in Jakarta.
They’re all about those short and medium-haul flights, rocking the Airbus 320-200 with 180 seats in economy class.
So, there you have it! Which airline do you usually go for?
