A Thai couple vacationing in Japan caused a stir online for some graffiti shenanigans on a Tokyo bridge!

Reported by The Thaiger on Sunday (14/4), a Thai tourist took a stroll in Tokyo’s Nakameguro District, a popular spot for visitors. While crossing a bridge, he stumbled upon something quite embarrassing.

There it was, painted on the bridge: “Beer love Mayvy.” He recognized it as the work of a fellow Thai. As explained on social media, “Beer” is a common nickname among Thais, and “Mayvy” is a popular female moniker.

The tourist snapped a photo and posted it on Facebook, sparking swift criticism from Thai netizens.

One determined netizen even tracked down a certain Beer, who had indeed posted a similar picture on his own Facebook page.

“Back at the bridge again, but our 2022 names have vanished. We’ve rewritten them for 2024. Let’s see if they stick around till 2025!”

Beer’s post spread like wildfire among Thai users, drawing heavy backlash for his repeated offenses.

One user even hinted at potential consequences, mentioning fines up to 300,000 Yen and a three-year jail term.

Faced with the heat, Beer swiftly deleted his post and deactivated his Facebook account.

The incident quickly went viral, prompting the original bridge discoverer to step up as a volunteer to scrub away the graffiti and uphold his country’s image. His actions earned him praise all around.
