Before we get into the hows and wheres, let me just get this out of the way: if you’re going to Soekarno-Hatta Airport from Jakarta (or vice versa), the airport train is fantastic. No traffic, fixed price, and predictable travel time.
The Routes You Never Knew You Needed
Rather than start from “how to buy a ticket,” let’s look at where you can board this slick train.
- Manggarai Station → Soekarno-Hatta Airport
About 56 minutes, via Sudirman Baru, Duri, Rawa Buaya, Batu Ceper. Fare: Rp 70,000. - Sudirman Baru (BNI City) → Soekarno-Hatta Airport
48 minutes, same fare – Rp 70,000. - Duri Station → Soekarno-Hatta Airport
32 minutes, same fare – Rp 70,000. - Rawa Buaya → Soekarno-Hatta Airport
Just 21 minutes! Fare: Rp 35,000. - Batu Ceper → Soekarno-Hatta Airport
The fastest – 12 minutes. Fare: Rp 35,000.
And here’s the best part – you can ride between these stations without even going to the airport. For example, from Manggarai to BBNI City? 6 minutes, only Rp 10,000. From BNI City to Rawa Buaya? 26 minutes, Rp 35,000.
Last-Minute Ticket? Not an Issue
Let’s say you didn’t book ahead of time—and that doesn’t really matter. You can still purchase a ticket at the station vendor as late as 5 minutes before departure. Simply select your destination, select the scheduled departure time, pay, and your ticket will come out.
The Online Option (For the Planners)
If you like to be organized and prepared, then this is how to book your ticket online:
- Visit reservation.kci.id or open the Access by KAI app.
- You must select your start and end stations.
- Choose your travel date.
- Select your ticket(s).
- Enter your name, email, and phone number.
- Pay your ticket(s) and you are done.
In the app, just tap on “Airport”, fill in your route, select a schedule, and pay!
Why This Train is Way Better Than a Car
Though Jakarta traffic can make any trip to and from the airport testing your patience, the airport train cuts right through it. You know exactly how long it’s going to take—whether it’s a super quick 12-minute Batu Ceper sprint or the nearly hour long journey to Manggarai.
At the end of the day, whether you’re picking someone up or just traveling between the two train stations, the airport train isn’t just a method of transportation—it’s peace of mind wrapped in air conditioning.
