The San Diego Zoo has just made it easier for panda lovers everywhere to enjoy their favorite furry friends without ever leaving the comfort of their home! With the launch of a new Panda Cam, you can now watch these adorable giants anytime, anywhere—online and in real-time.
According to the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance website on Saturday (19/10/2024), the camera is fixed on the zoo’s two pandas, Xin Bao and Yun Chuan. This means you can watch these delightful fluffballs roll around, climb, explore, nap, and munch on bamboo 24/7.
To catch all the panda action, simply head over to sandiegozoo.org/pandacam. There, you’ll find a live feed that lets you watch Xin Bao, a four-year-old female panda, and Yun Chuan, a five-year-old male, as they go about their panda business. And if you prefer to see them in person, well, you can always drop by Panda Ridge at the San Diego Zoo for some up-close-and-personal panda fun!
This new panda cam was launched about five months after the dynamic duo made their long journey from China to California. After a quarantine period and some time spent adjusting to their new home, Xin Bao and Yun Chuan made their public debut in August, and they’ve been stealing hearts ever since!
Now, they’re the zoo’s biggest stars—no contest.
The zoo also offers some fun facts to help you tell the two pandas apart. Xin Bao, born at Wolong Shenshuping Panda Base, is easily recognized by her big, round face and large ears. She’s super active, always alert, and an amazing climber.
Yun Chuan, on the other hand, has quite the family history. He’s the grandson of Bai Yun and Gao Gao, two legendary pandas that called the San Diego Zoo home for decades. You can spot Yun Chuan by his longer, slightly pointy nose.
So whether you’re a hardcore panda fan or just in need of some cute animal therapy, San Diego Zoo’s Panda Cam has got you covered. Just grab your popcorn, hit that Panda Cam link, and enjoy hours of fuzzy, panda-filled entertainment!
