Hey, adventure seekers planning to hit up Labuan Bajo for the Christmas and New Year fiesta, here’s the scoop – it’s gonna be a blast, and safety is the name of the game!
All the Labuan Bajo travel bigwigs recently huddled up for a Coordination Meeting at the BPOLBF office to make sure everything’s in shipshape for the upcoming festivities. They’re teaming up to make this celebration extra special.
Shana Fatina, the big cheese at BPOLBF (Labuan Bajo Flores Authority), spilled the beans that they, along with their buddies in the tourism gang, are all hands on deck to ensure visitors have a jolly good time during the 2023 Christmas bash and the 2024 New Year’s shindig. They’re especially keeping tabs on wild weather and have some tricks up their sleeves to handle any curveballs.
And guess what? The boat buddies in the tourist association are all set to keep an eye on the weather alongside BMKG (Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency) and the harbor honchos to make sure those boat rides are as smooth as a hot knife through butter.
“We’ve got some cool plans, like giving tourists the heads up if the weather’s acting up and having backup programs on land to keep the good times rolling,” added Shana.
Over in the BMKG West Manggarai corner, Prabu M spilled the deets that the rainy season officially kicked in on December 20, especially for the coastal crew. They’re spreading the word on social media about rain vibes to keep everyone in the loop.
“To keep tabs on the weather in Labuan Bajo, we’re relying on satellite snapshots for now, but we’re leveling up with radars in Alor, Sumba, and Labuan Bajo. If there’s rain and floods on the horizon, we’ll give the heads up 2-3 days before the show and 2-3 hours before the heavens really open up,” Prabu explained.
The head honcho at Komodo Airport, chimed in that they’re beefing up Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for flights to handle any wild weather swings.
Lastly, Eddy S, the head of the National Search and Rescue Agency (BASARNAS) in Labuan Bajo, threw in that they’re all set for the year-end hustle, with the crew and gear ready to roll at 85%. They’re on high alert from December 19, 2023, to January 3, 2024 – just in case anyone needs a superhero moment!
