An English bloke sadly kicked the bucket during his flight to Chile, with his missus right there by his side. The poor 59-year-old chap was on a jet from the Falkland Islands heading to Punta Arenas, Chile, as reported by The Standard on Monday (February 26, 2024).

Sadly, the traveler passed away before the plane operated by LATAM could touch down. They were on the second leg of their journey towards the Chilean capital, Santiago de Chile.

Upon hearing the news, the cops in charge of homicide cases paid a visit to the aircraft when it landed at Carlos Ibanez del Campo Airport.

Deputy Commissioner of the special unit, Diego Díaz, based in Punta Arenas, confirmed the traveler’s death.

“On Saturday (February 24, 2024), following orders from the local prosecutor, detectives from the Punta Arenas Homicide Brigade headed over to Carlos Ibanez del Campo Airport. A 59-year-old British tourist kicked the bucket on the plane while it was flying from the Falkland Islands to Punta Arenas before it continued its journey to Santiago,” said Diaz to the local media.

Diaz mentioned that there weren’t any signs of foul play indicating dodgy circumstances surrounding the death. He also had a chat with the deceased traveler’s wife to gather more info.

“The man’s missus has been interviewed and mentioned that he had some health issues underlying,” he added.

However, they’ve planned to do a post-mortem examination on Sunday or Monday. They’re hoping that the results would confirm that the bloke kicked the bucket due to natural causes.

The Standard reached out to LATAM, the biggest airline in Latin America, for some comments. Last August, one of their pilots, Captain Ivan Andaur (56), also kicked the bucket after feeling unwell during a flight from Miami to Chile.

He felt under the weather and collapsed in the loo. Another captain and a co-pilot took the reins of the aircraft, which landed at Tocumen International Airport. Paramedics tried to help Mr. Andaur, but they had to declare him deceased.
