Saudi Arabia is shaking things up by diversifying its economy beyond oil, and one way they’re doing it is through tourism. With Vision 2030, they’re giving various sectors a modern makeover, including their rules for visitors. Now, ladies don’t need a male sidekick to explore Saudi Arabia, whether they’re on a spiritual journey for Umrah or just fancy a vacation. Yep, no need for a mahram (that’s a male guardian) for Umrah trips either.
“Hey, guess what? Saudi Arabia is open for business, even for Umrah. Ladies can jet off solo, exploring every nook and cranny of the country, anytime they want,” said Aldabbagh from the Saudi Tourism Authority.
This dude, who’s also a big fan of motorcycles, mentioned that over the past couple of years, Saudi Arabia has been rolling out the welcome mat for female travelers. Medina has been crowned the safest city for women three years running,” he said.
“Need a hand? Just give us a shout – we’ve got your back,” he added with a grin.
Saudi Arabia’s even set up a hotline called the Visitor Care Number, where you can dial in for whatever you need.
For first-time female travelers to Saudi Arabia, Alhasan recommends checking out Jeddah and Riyadh if you’re into city life. And if you’re all about nature, head to AlUla or Southern Arabia for some serious mountain vibes, he suggested.
