Picture this. You show up to the hotel you reserved, pack on your back ready to sleep after a long day of trip- and the door will not open! Not because of overbooking, or being late, just because of where you are from. Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina ate Ofak Levy, an Israeli rubberneck, just like this.

Levy arrived at Guest Hostel DADA, obviously with a reservation through Booking.com. When Levy arrived at the gate the proprietor opened it half and said to Levy,” Are you from Israel?” After Levy replied” yes”, the proprietor said,” We do not accept you. Please find another hotel.” also he closed the door!

Then’s the issue he communicated Booking.com and was told they would do nothing to help. The end result, an€ 8 refund. No accommodation, no help. He called it” ridiculous” and wondered how such a estimable and global trip platform would allow this to be.

What makes this indeed more complicated is this is n’t the first time. before in 2024, another Israeli rubberneck showed up at the Material Hotel in Japan and was turned down. hostel director Jeronimo Gehres transferred a communication via reserving converse” Due to the reports of implicit war crimes being committed by the Israeli Defense Forces in Gaza we’re unfit to accommodate any guests we believe to be potentially connected.”
Larger Issues
This isn’t simply a terrible hostel review. Situations similar as this make you consider larger questions; where does political kick check and demarcation start? What’s the responsibility of reserving platforms when their parcels begin to make opinions like this?
What Now?
Booking.com has stated that they’re looking into the Bosnia case. still for trippers like tax, the damage is done the demotion, the query and the sheer crippling dread of being in an strange megacity without lodgment.
