Alright, so you’ve probably seen those epic train ride pics from Sri Lanka, right? Lush tea plantations, open windows, everyone looking all dreamy. Well, here’s a not-so-dreamy story about how trying to recreate that went totally wrong for one tourist.
Living the Sri Lanka Train Dream – Until She Wasn’t
So, this Chinese traveler was cruising through Colombo on a train last Sunday (Dec 8). She’s loving the views—green tea fields everywhere, vibes are immaculate.
Instead of just enjoying the ride, she plops herself on the window ledge and leans out, probably thinking, This is gonna get me ALL the likes. Spoiler: it didn’t go as planned.
One Branch, One Big Oops
Here’s the thing—she didn’t notice a sneaky tree branch chilling way too close to the train. BAM. The branch smacks her, and next thing you know, she’s off the train and into the bushes.
Yeah, she fell. Like, actually fell off a moving train. But get this—she only ended up with a few scratches. Talk about lucky, huh?
Cops and Safety Warnings
After the whole drama, the cops showed up, probably thinking, Not again. They found her, patched her up, and then reminded everyone: “Yo, stop leaning out of train windows. It’s not worth it.”
Apparently, a few other tourists also took unplanned dives off trains earlier this year while chasing that perfect shot.
Don’t Blame the Train
Sri Lankan railway authorities are kinda over it. They’ve banned leaning out of windows on express trains, and if you do it anyway, don’t expect them to take the blame if something goes sideways (or, in this case, out the window).
Even the Chinese Embassy has been telling its citizens to keep it safe and stay away from windows when taking pictures.
Look, we get it. Train rides in Sri Lanka are magical. But risking your life for a pic? Nah, that’s not the move. Stay in your seat, enjoy the view, and maybe just snap a pic from inside.
Bush landings might seem like a soft fall, but not everyone’s gonna get that kind of luck. Keep it safe, y’all!
