Grocery Stores Cost More than Your Airline Ticket

Packable Snacks in Luggage
Over the years, Iceland has gained a reputation as one of the most striking countries in Europe due to its dramatic landscape of glaciers, mountains, hot springs, and expansive areas. Alongside this natural beauty is another aspect that has become synonymous with Iceland − high cost of living. Due to high prices for food items in Iceland, some travelers are taking it to the extreme and packing meals to bring with them rather than spending a lot of money when they arrive. Some travelers have resorted to packing meals from their homes in order to avoid paying exorbitantly high prices for meals in Iceland. Some people even send their meals in advance.
Grocery Store Reality Check
The Spanish tourist who created the viral video went into a grocery store to make a point. What he discovered when he went into the grocery store left him shocked. He stated that a pack of strawberries cost almost £5. A baguette to make a sandwich for lunch cost more than £6. A plain cheese sandwich cost right around £5. Normally, items like instant noodles define inexpensive food items; however, the price of this item was comparable to the price of a meal in many countries. It was difficult to find any inexpensive items when cooking at home either. For example, a bottle of olive oil would cost almost £8, and a couple slices of pork were not cheap either, and a small jar of fermented fish (a local delicacy) cost roughly the same amount as a full meal in many countries.
