So, there are some new sheriff’s rules in town at Masjidil Haram. Yep, they’re cracking down on what you can and can’t bring into the mosque area.

The folks in charge at Masjidil Haram in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, recently dropped the bomb about these new rules. Saif Al Salami, the Supervisor of the Haram Gate Department, spilled the beans in a chat with Gulf News on Wednesday (February 14, 2024).

Here’s the lowdown on what you can’t tote into the mosque:

  • No Snacks or Sips: Unless it’s coffee, dates, or water, keep your munchies and drinks outside.
  • Bye-Bye Sharp Stuff: They’re not letting you bring in anything that could be used to cause a fuss.
  • Flammable Fluids: Keep the firewater out of sight.
  • Big Bags, No Thanks: Say goodbye to those oversized travel bags and hefty suitcases.
  • Baby on Board? Not Here: Baby strollers are also a big no-no.
  • The goal? Smooth sailing for worshippers without the clutter and hassle.

Oh, and if you’re rolling with a baby stroller, you’ll need to park it elsewhere. The higher-ups have set up a special area on the upper floor for stroller parking.

But wait, there’s more! Saudi Arabia is aiming to roll out the welcome mat for 10 million Umrah pilgrims this year. And to sweeten the deal, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud is hooking up 1,000 lucky folks with a free Umrah trip in 2024. Talk about royal treatment!

So, there you have it, folks. Keep these rules in mind next time you’re headed to Masjidil Haram.
