About seventy American travellers claim that they have not yet received their money back after an unexpected cut-off of their journey to France, organized by the travel agency in Maryland. The tourists could not help paying for their own flights, accommodations, and other expenses after the travel agency failed to organize the last four days of their tour.
The tourists were on the tour named the “Goddes Refresh Experience” when they were told of the cancellation. With no accommodation and tourist activities included in the program, some travelers report that they were made to find other options for returning to the States or continue their vacation on their own.
Passengers have lodged complaints about being abandoned due to the last-minute cancellation.
Flight Modifications Disrupt the Journey
The travel firm previously mentioned technical problems associated with the flights of the group as the cause of the termination of the next part of the tour. As stated in the announcement made on Facebook, the agency had informed that the airline had changed the aircraft type unexpectedly, which resulted in not enough places for all the members of the group.
According to the travel agency, it decided to cancel the tour instead of separating the travelers into different groups.
One traveler named Dell Sibury called the situation chaotic as travelers found out that their accommodation and entertainment for the last four days had been canceled.
The agency had claimed to provide tourists with reimbursement for the canceled part of the trip and unexpected expenses. Travelers had also been told that they would receive refunds within 60 days.
However, by the end of September 2026, several travelers actually stated that they had not received anything yet.
Refund issues fuel worries
According to the firm, the delays in disbursing refunds are caused mainly by clients cancelling transactions with their banks. As explained by the organization, the impact on its cash flow has made it difficult for the company to make payments to participants.
These delays have made travelers wonder when the refunds will be processed and when they will receive their money back.
The issue has raised concerns beyond the tour in France. Additional group of travelers revealed that they paid approximately $30,000 for their trip to Australia and Fiji scheduled for October 18. They later expressed their dissatisfaction with the travel agency and complained about the lack of communication.
The Charles County Sheriff’s Department stated that an alleged fraud report had been received regarding these issues, and this is currently under investigation.
Travel Refunds Given as an Option
The travel agency claimed that it was trying to figure out the best options for the customers who have been affected in this case, such as how to use the credit that they have already accumulated.
However, travelers impacted by the canceled trip to France still have the bigger issue in front of them. Despite having to spend money from their own pockets, they still are awaiting their reimbursements, which, they claim, the travel agency has promised.
